Event Highlights By Day
Day 1 - Monday, 8 September
- The conference will open with a focus on site transitions and hazard management, including AGL’s updates on power station closures and Dyno Nobel’s work on ammonia risk reduction.
- SFI will take to the stage mid-morning to share how innovative tooling strategies can streamline decommissioning operations.
- The day will close with case studies on maintenance optimisation and a panel exploring the scalability of decommissioning across Australia.
Day 2 - Tuesday, 9 September
Delegates will split into two streams:
- Aging asset management focused on lifecycle risk, climate change impacts and extending asset performance.
- Decommissioning excellence will feature a workshop on preparing plants for demolition, covering everything from hazard identification to contractor management.
- Roundtables and case studies will showcase practical lessons from mining, gas and utilities, while industry voices will debate solutions for corrosion, mothballing and extending aging infrastructure.
Day 3 - Wednesday, 10 September (Optional Workshop)
- The final day will deliver a strategic deep dive with a workshop on late-life asset management, led by Erik Vandenberg of Verbrec Ltd.
- Sessions will explore risk-based inspections, obsolescence planning and the role of circular economy principles in asset repurposing and decommissioning.
